Who are the Surrogate & Egg Donor Alliance?

The Surrogate and Egg Donor Alliance is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to creating a safe, independent space where surrogates and egg donors can find peer support, education, and advocacy. Our mission is simple: to empower surrogates and egg donors by focusing on their health, well-being, and body autonomy—free from external pressures or vested interests.

We are committed to promoting ethical practices that protect the rights of surrogates and egg donors at every stage of their journey and beyond.

Our Commitment to the Community

At the heart of our work is the belief in the power of community. We provide a private, supportive space where surrogates and egg donors can connect, share their experiences, and access reliable information. Our group is entirely independent, unlike spaces run by agencies, clinics, or organisations, ensuring that you receive honest, unbiased support with no hidden agendas.

We will never accept financial incentives or donations from agencies, organisations, or clinics, so you can trust that our support is always genuine and free from any conflicting interests.

What is a CIC?

A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a type of social enterprise in the UK designed to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. CICs operate as not-for-profit organisations, meaning any profits they make are reinvested back into the company to further its community-focused goals. They are regulated by the CIC Regulator to ensure they meet the legal requirements to benefit the public. In the case of the Surrogate and Egg Donor Alliance, our CIC structure ensures that our work is solely focused on supporting surrogates and egg donors, free from commercial interests or profit-making motives.

MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS

SARAH JONES – SURROGATE & KNOWN EGG DONOR

With over two decades of experience in surrogacy, Sarah Jones has acted as a surrogate five times and is a dedicated advocate for the rights and well-being of surrogates. Sarah works for a surrogacy organisation in the UK and has been involved in supporting surrogates throughout their journeys.

Throughout her experience, Sarah has noticed that many disparities in support occur in the world of surrogacy, particularly for those who undertake surrogacy privately, such as within familial teams, where formal support and guidance are often lacking. While Sarah has often been approached by surrogates in these situations, she was unable to offer formal support because they were not members of the organisation she worked for. Nevertheless, she has volunteered much of her time to help those struggling, offering advice and guidance long after their surrogacy journeys had ended.

Sarah formed the Surrogate and Egg Donor Alliance because she believes in the importance of an independent space where surrogates and egg donors can speak freely, share experiences, and access unbiased information about the risks, side effects, medications, and overall well-being. She is passionate about ensuring that surrogates and egg donors are informed of their rights and empowered to make decisions based on their own health and autonomy, free from the influence of clinics or organisations.

Having seen how surrogates and egg donors are sometimes treated as an afterthought by professionals, Sarah is committed to advocating for better treatment and ensuring that their health and well-being are always prioritised.

RENA MIRAS-PYE – SURROGATE, EGG DONOR & KNOWN EGG DONOR

Rena Miras-Pye has three children with her husband and has been actively involved in the world of egg donation and surrogacy for seven years. In 2017, she donated her eggs anonymously through an organisation, resulting in a positive experience that led to the birth of three girls—a moment of pride she carries with her.

Rena has since had two surrogacy journeys through an organisation, welcoming a surrogate baby via straight surrogacy in 2020 and another via host surrogacy in 2023. Later, she became a known egg donor, though she faced health challenges following her donation.

Rena is passionate about supporting those going through surrogacy and egg donation, offering guidance and ensuring they are fully informed about what to expect. Her commitment to providing support and advice makes her a valued advocate within the community.

COULD YOU HELP?

We are looking for volunteers to help support our private group, providing a safe, welcoming space for surrogates and egg donors to connect and share experiences. To join us, you must have been a surrogate or an egg donor in the UK, whether your journey was through a clinic, an organisation, or independently. You may have donated or carried for family or friends, or for someone you met through an organisation. All we ask is that you respect our core rule of strictly no recruitment—this is a safe space, and our volunteers must uphold this principle.

If you’d like to get more involved, we are also seeking key volunteers to help support and steer the direction of the Surrogate and Egg Donor Alliance. Whether you had a positive experience or required support along the way, your voice is important, and all perspectives are welcome.
